Mr. Matthews has served as CEO of CenVaNet since 1996. In this capacity he is responsible for organization and implementation of all aspects of this physician-hospital enterprise. After an initial recruitment of 350 physician equity members, Mr. Matthews has overseen network growth to 1,500 physician members and 11 acute care facilities.
Mr. Matthews concurrently serves as CEO of both MedVirginia and Central Virginia Health Network. He previously served as senior vice president of Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. In this position, Mr. Matthews was responsible for care management, quality assurance, total quality management, government relations, business development, managed care and medical staff development. He received his BS in Mathematics and MS in Public Health from UNC.
